Ethics Training

June 28, 2013
9 AM - 11 AM

NASW Minnesota Chapter Ethics Committee offers its newly revised
2-hour seminar on Ethical Decision-Making in Social Work Practice.

This is an ethics training for all social workers. It will provide several engaging learning tools to capture your attention… facilitated by members of the MN NASW Ethics Committee.

The Minnesota NASW Chapter Ethics Committee is chaired by Theresa McPartlin.  Theresa is a clinical social worker and a social work consultant with experience in community mental health, case management, medical social work, supervision, and administration.

Part 1 of the presentation covers the following topics:

  • Basic principles underlying ethical thinking
  • How to identify ethical dilemmas in our social work practice
  • Differentiating Legal, Moral and Ethical dilemmas
  • Our obligations under our Code of Ethics and State Licensure for ethical practice
  • Discussion of a model for analyzing and resolving ethical dilemmas
  • An overview of ethical standards
  • Throughout, there will be ample opportunities for participant input, and many examples from social work practice will be provided for discussion

Part 2 provides plenty of time for structured case discussion in small groups, using the model presented to analyze an ethical dilemma.
